about

This album has been a journey.

We began the process of recording this record just over a year ago, during a five day stretch in September of 2011. Some of what we recorded over those five days made it onto the final record, that was completed exactly one-year later. Our marvelous producer, friend and teacher, Dave MacKenzie, was instrumental in making this record what it is. He was endlessly patient with us, always willing to push us to try something new, to push our boundaries as musicians, and to enjoy every moment of the process. He took six untrained musicians with a dream and helped them make something they are truly proud of while helping form them into stronger, more confident and caring players.

As six people chasing a dream, we found endless love and support from our family and friends. Beyond the emotional support, the final stages of this project (mixing and mastering) would not have been possible without the generous contributions to our Rockethub campaign by the wonderful people in our lives. Once we reached our goal, we were able to get our record mixed by the careful and kind Denis Tougas, and mastered by the wonderful Noah Mintz. Being able to put a year's worth of hard work into the hands of people we admire and trust meant the world to us.

We couldn't be happier with how this record turned out. We know we have a lot of work to do, but this process and the people involved were nothing but encouraging. We are inspired to keep working, to keep playing and to keep doing our best to bring you the best music we can.

All the love in the world.

Track Name: Hide In Here
cover me in leaves
I'd be a willow
cover you in tears
you'd be the same
as lovely as the winter
and just as hard to bear
oh my darling - you be summer and I'll be there

surely all my sins are not forgiven
it'd take two lives to live such penitence
but still my soul delivered
from your deep countenance
oh my darling - I'm a sinner and you're my heaven sent

autumn leaves
they make me so nostalgic
there's something 'bout the scent they give to the air
when everything is dying
and winter's coming near
ooo ooo ooo
oh my darling - I'll light a fire and we'll just hide in here
Track Name: Type You Forget
I found myself today
she found a better me
I'd trade my better wage
if she'd come back to me
and oh…it's how it goes
or so…I've been told
too many times before

Chorus:
i count the people in my bed
they whisper words that don't make sense
with them a piece of me is left
whoo oh
I know the sky can go dark red
I'll try to make it blue again
and be the type that you forget
whoo oh

I turned my back today
she turned and fled away
with all my bags and finest clothes
like some lame country song
and oh…it's how it goes
or so…I've been told
too many times before

Chorus (x2)
Track Name: Hollow Love
well it might seem I'm walking out
but you, you never looked to stay
or take the time to love me back
and if the mountains weren't in the way
I'd surely take another day
to tell you all the pain that's in my past

I'll eat my words and hope to breathe again
I'll eat my words and hope...

Chorus:
you may be my blood
and you might've made my bones
but you ain't no love
you may be my blood
and you might've made my bones
but you ain't no one
my hollow love

I live to sing another day
these verses come like therapy
if only you could see me now
I'm overpowered by enemies
so fucking thick it's darkening
and all I've got's this blade in my back

ready to carve the way out of the dark
ready to carve the way...

Chorus x 1

bottle full of blood and I'm pouring fast (x4)
Track Name: City Of Trees
I was born on the wrong side of the sea
I was made for a life amongst these
old time folks; denizens of a city of trees
somewhere in here lies my peace

and oh...lies my peace
and oh...holy breed

Chorus:
you saved my life when I was alone
and you saved my body when I bled from my soul
you're not the one for me to keep
but you kept me going all along

holy mother, you cut like a blade
and I lost my faith in her ways
but you drowned my doubt in a river of pain
and I learned you meant it that way

and oh...I learned today
and oh...you meant it that way
Track Name: See You In Another Life
I rest my head on my door
cover my ears and whisper, "no..."
as bottles broke
shut out my fear by thinking
just another day and we'll both go
to a safer place
well I taught myself: ain't nothing in having faith
well I watched my life in slow-mo
and it played...

a killer cutting eyes
the Mona Lisa with the soulless smile
derived and out of style
I trade my soiled life
out on the fields and in this moonless night
I pray a little poem
I pray that moon of day will sow my soul
and that sound outside
oh it's heaven at the door

Chorus:
what kind of brother was I
when I watched my brother die?

so bring your flaming knives
I've got the damned the doom
they're on my side and ready to hit the floor
let's dance this coiled line
we'll hear the moaning of the serpent's spine
and hope to god it dies
well I'm leaning on the holier side

Chorus

I want to break these shackles
I want to hold my hands up high
towards the sky
(x2)

Chorus (x2)

(gang vox: I want to break these shackles)
Track Name: Crooked Hand
well the days march on by
but still you're on my mind
I'm waiting for my heart to catch up
but it's trailing behind
too much hurting on the line
stuck in a better time

well I lost my sense of what you're heart desired
well I curse my hand and weep with fiery eyes
oh I play these kings and come to realize
that I lost you
so many miles ago

spend my lust
in dingy clubs
drinking till I spill my guts
oh my hands they shake again
one more night and I'll be dead
over love

well I lost my sense of what you're heart desired
well I curse my hand and weep with fiery eyes
oh I play these kings and come to realize
that I lost you
the day I was born
Track Name: When The World Burst To Flames
oh don't sound so smug
as if anybody's gonna come
this is not my fault
and I don't wanna be no misspoke quote
bleed sex from this stone
you shot my feet - I walked to show
how many lives I'd live to be
now quid pro quo

pouring salt in to your wounds
I'd break your knees and starve your mood
my darling, I've got all night to make you plead

Chorus:
well I doubt you'd even bleed if I was you
and as vicious as you've been I've been it too
the only difference is I hear this silent coup
that you will hear in time

I sat alone on this old dock
my feet dangled out on the shore
and I watched my first sunrise and I said,
"no...I won't go...oh not today"
then the world burst to flames
and I was whole

Chorus

last call on the morning sun
and I'll be leaving town
last call and I'm going now
and I believe it now
let her go

well I doubt you'd even bleed...

Chorus
Track Name: Fall Of The Moor
last night
I distanced myself from the star light
never enough, always too bright
the devil's inside of my old telephone

kiss on the lips
lay me down between your hips
when the wind changes pace
and I'm reminded of your face

last night
I pictured myself as a small light
rarely enough, never too bright
the devil's inside of my sould

kiss on the lips
lay me down between your hips
when the wind changes pace
and I'm reminded of your face
and thus in the fall
damn, damn, goddamn it all
the fall of the moor
and I'll again be alone
Track Name: Kingdom Come
born on a bed full of cobwebs
and smelling like high hell
owner of nothing
a king without his own realm
oh ma and pa, please explain this
and tell me with no lies
a man came to me, he said,
"son...you're what they're looking for"

what if I was a song
would they hum the notes in the darkest night?
what if I was lost
would they take the time to guide me to light?
what if I was wrong...?

made my own way to the shore
to make a new life
walked the horizon
I thought, to make my doubt go

said my goodbyes
to all those sycophants over my legs
led by design
now it's time I've been put out to stray

what if I was a song
would they hum the notes in the darkest night?
what if I was lost
would they take the time to guide me to light?
what if I was wrong
would they eat the bread of my body's bones?
(x2)

what if I was wrong...
